Travel Medical Insurance
On June 11, 2009, the World Health Organization declared the A (H1N1) pandemic, the first in 40 years. It is also the first pandemic of the 21st century. While the WHO doesn’t recommend nations to close its borders to people, services or goods, it says the world should remain vigilant since nobody knows anything about what the virus is really capable of. Ask yourself: do you still want to travel abroad uninsured?
This is where travel medical insurance comes in.
Travel medical insurance is a type of travel insurance that covers all or a portion of your medical expenses incurred abroad. If you’re on business or a vacation in another country and you got sick, your travel medical insurance would cover that for you.
Never leave your country without it.
Take note travel medical insurance is different from plain travel insurance. Travel insurance covers medical expenses and financial losses, such as curtailment, repatriation, legal assistance, delayed baggage, etc. Travel medical insurance, like its name says, only covers medical expenses.
Also confirm with your insurance agent about pre-existing conditions. Most travel medical insurance doesn’t cover pre-existing conditions, but by adding a small fee to the premium they might just allow it.
Never overlook coverage on pre-existing conditions even with travel medical insurance.
